Can anyone tell me if an installation of Linux Mint Mate 18.3 includes all of the necessary
drivers, dependencies, etc., etc. for the configuration of a Brother model DCP-L2540DW
printer OR is it really necessary to run the INSTALLER SCRIPT for this printer that is
found on the Brother printer download site ?
See my related post regarding this same subject at:

I have since upgraded from Mint 18.1 to 18.3 and am wondering if that might change
what is needed to get this printer working.
Thanks.

Re: Linux Mint Mate 18.3 & Brother printer
I would have thought doing the upgrade that if your previous config worked; it should be fine after the upgrade;
to have a printer working you seem to need:
1) drivers installed
2) register the printer with lpadmin ........... the admin for linux printing ........
so your drivers should safely stay in the upgrade; if one deleted the entry for the printer in the PRINTERS folder; then press ADD; the system should find the printer and do a clean (and new) registration .... if for some reason; you wanted to do that;
but tell us: if the upgrade is finished; Does the printer work ok?
