Installing HPLIP Drivers on HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fw

Post by FenderGuy »

I originally had HPLIP 3.15.2 installed on my laptop (and working beautifully), then upgraded to HPLIP 3.17.11, losing my scanning capability in the process, so...

I want to reinstall HPLIP 3.15.2 on my laptop, but I've hit a snag.

When I run "dpkg -l hplip", I get:

Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold
| Status=Not/Inst/Conf-files/Unpacked/halF-conf/Half-inst/trig-aWait/Trig-pend
|/ Err?=(none)/Reinst-required (Status,Err: uppercase=bad)
||/ Name Version Architecture Description
+++-==============-============-============-=================================
ii hplip 3.15.2-0trus amd64 HP Linux Printing and Imaging Sys

When I run "hp-plug-in", I get:

Done.

How do I get back to HPLIP 3.15.2?

What process did you use to upgrade to 3.17.11?

It sounds like you may have done that outside the normal software updating channel in LM.

It's recoverable, but just need to know how you did it, so we can give you a more complete solution.

so from this thread on the Ubuntu forums;

post #5 https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2383323 reports problems getting the plug-ins from the download site; https://bugs.launchpad.net/hplip/+bug/1749573

..... which may well explain some issues for you! The poster suggests a couple of solutions: if you can do them great; if you want more instructions, please flag that
