Epson ET-2550 Driver finally released by Seiko/Epson

I have owned this Epson ET-2550 multi-function printer for two years.
Does a good job under any form of Windows.

But until 3/20/2018 Epson did not support a driver for Linux....

I just installed it, and it works perfectly.
Prior to this, no matter which other flavor of Linux drivers they had available, none of them would give readable output.

Plain Text had shadows...
Colors were a rainbow of drunks playing with paint on their fuzzy mittens.


I don't understand why it took them so long to finally release a driver for this great little printer.

the Epson site is a strange beast, as you always have to search for your Model:
http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/searc ... archModule
is the search area & where you have to give your Model No.

and the ET-2550 Model is not recognized . . .
so you did well, to get a Linux Driver for your Model Printer.

and at the top, is their link to other printer types.

But, what I noticed was then when you actually drilled down to the Driver itself, and then look at how many of their printers it covers.... all of them, that one driver works for them all.

When I installed the driver, and then went to the Printer Install again, the correct driver just popped up and the printer test worked the first time.

and then when I went to LibreOffice and printed out color graphics, they were just beautiful...
Whereas before, I would just get a ream of paper spitting out gibberish.
