SOLVED Epson issue with network
My Mint18.3 machine stopped recognizing my network printer (Epson WF-3520). It still works fine from my wife's Win10 laptop. I figured the Mint machine got dizzy or something so I deleted the epson from the printers and tried to add it back. Now my Mint18.3 machine cannot find the epson on my network at all. I tried reinstalling the latest linux debian driver from the epson site, but no change to situation.

Re: Epson issue with network
Have you installed the latest Epson Printer drivers for Linux?
hey have some new ones out that resolved my problems,
here is the link for your printer
https://www.epson-printerdrivers.com/search?q=WF-3520

Yes and no change. Still no existence via network.

Re: Epson issue with network
Sorry. Not going to that site. Besides, it seems to be more of an issue with not even showing up as a network device, let alone being usable.
Also, that is older than what I have installed.

Understand, it is just a server that I subscribe to where I store files for others to use.
the file itself I did the chksum on it before I used it
Re: Epson issue with network
So does anyone know why a perfectly functioning printer that is being seen on the network by other machines is non-existent according to my "Linux Mint 18.3-only" machine?
identify which printers lp sees
what does give please? (If you copy or type the command into a terminal; and if you copy the result, and paste it back here please)
Code: Select all
lpinfo -v
Re: identify which printers lp sees
Gives this:pdc_2 wrote: ⤴Sun Apr 15, 2018 6:40 pm what doesgive please? (If you copy or type the command into a terminal; and if you copy the result, and paste it back here please)Code: Select all
lpinfo -v
lpinfo: cups-deviced failed to execute.
Re: Epson issue with network
I finally got it to work. After seeing the results from lpinfo -v, I uninstalled cups and reinstalled it. Now the printer shows up and works just fine. Thanks.
SOLVED: cups is needed for system to see printer
great; it is a great command; as it is surprising how often it shows up these cups errors; glad all is working for you now;
