HP laserjet 1010 refuses to print image files correctly

Post by korzhikm »

I have HP Laser Jet 1010 printer. It works correctly with text documents, such as doc, docx and e.t.c. But it prints just several lines from the top of the paper shit if I try to print any image files such as pdf, tiff, gif. Linux printing service created txt file "troubleshoot.txt". I attached it to this topic. Do you have any solution? :(

Hi you maybe able to fix the problem by installing the latest hplip driver from hp. https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imaging-and-printing
mint has hplip 3.16 newest one is hplip 3.18 - There was a problem with the hp lazerjet 1010 which may have gotten fixed in the newer driver.

No, the situation haven't changed at all. I found out that they are aware about this bug (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... ug/1112773) from 01.02.2013.

not much you can do then, except change printers. I find that most hp's work great on linux.

Thanks, but no. I'll better stay with hp LJ 1010. I have already asked people who work with new hp printers. They highly recommended not to change it because this printer is like ak-47 - simple and fault-tolerant in technical meaning. At least it can print text in any format. Maybe, anybody can fix this bug in future. If anybody faced with the same bug, please visit hplip topic (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... ug/1112773) in order to increase the importance of this problem.

Similar problem printing to an old (c.2003) HP LaserJet 1010 from Lubuntu 16.04.5 LTS running on a Dell Inspiron 15. HPLIP 3.18.12 finds the printer and installs it but when printing only blank pages come out.
