After some hiccups, I was finally able to install hplip-3.18.6 without a problem. It seemed to give an the error on down load - an encoding problem presumably, but i was able to run it nevertheless. For now I have had no sudden "printer not ready" situations.
Mysteriously, the new hplip is not showing in the systray. Not sure how I get it there again. It is marked in the hp-toolbox to always show the hplip icon in systray, but it's not showing up. Any Suggestions?
