Epson has drivers for Linux available at the Epson Download Centre: http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/searc ... ch/?OSC=LX
Any other support you need has been and will be offered here on this forum.
It is somewhat difficult to help you at this stage after several configuration files have been altered. Are you able to list these changes? Did you make copies of those files as recommended by JerryF?
In the first instance the drivers for the printer and the scanner should have been installed while connected via USB cable and when everything has been found to work, then progress to configure wireless connectivity.

Re: Cannot install Epson XP640 printer or scanner
oh, i did the configuration files EXACTLY as he said.
did NOT help.
Code: Select all
To enable Wi-Fi for Epson devices, you have to edit two configuration files on your system: you must have root permissions to edit these files.
/etc/sane.d/dll.conf
and
/etc/sane.d/epson2.conf
Open the file “dll.conf” and remove all entries EXCEPT the following two:
net
epson2
Save the file.
Open the file “epson2.conf”
and in the area for Network Attached Devices
Type the following:
net 192.168.1.5 (put the actual IP address of your printer)
If “net autodiscovery” is listed, remove it.
Save the file.
This should enable scanning using wi-fi network.
Re: Cannot install Epson XP640 printer or scanner
No, you do not need to re-install the operating system but I would restore "/etc/sane.d/dll.conf" if you have deleted some entries as well as "/etc/sane.d/epson2.conf". That should get your system back to its original state.
When you connect the XP-640 to your computer using a USB cable, the drivers that you have installed should work. If you have programmed the XP-640 to operate via a wireless connection then you will have to re-programme it to use a USB connection. When you report that everything works, you can try for a wireless connection again but using the method recommended by Epson in their iscan-manual.
Would you please confirm that you are using Cinnamon 64-bit - and which version of Linux Mint.
