Scanner problems again

Post by ingeva » Mon Jul 09, 2018 2:47 am

I see that many have issues with scanners on LM18 and, especially LM19, based on Ubuntu 18.04 (?).
My scanner is an Epson Perfection V350 PHOTO, which has worked using the same procedure for several years.
I use the scanner a LOT and need it to work. For now I can also boot LM18, where it works quite nicely.

For installation I use the drivers and instructions found here: http://support.epson.net/linux/en/iscan_c.html
These drivers have not been updated since September 2015. I believe that they are the same for most Epson scanners.

Ideas, anyone? Do we have to boot to LM18 to use the scanner?

have a read at this bug report;

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... ug/1728012

but skip to post #25 as it suggests two links to set up to help fix issues;

I covered some of this in post #2 here viewtopic.php?f=51&t=272238

Long before I came to mint I found vuescan, so when I moved over to mint I took vuescan with me without looking at whatever linux had to offer. It's available for linux and can be downloaded and tried for free. Beyond that it is not free $40 for a licence - If there are problems with mint 19.0 it might be an answer. Yet to upgrade to 19, still running 18.3.
