Epson XP-313 driver (Solved)

Post by jtp »

Set up: Linux Mint 19 Cinnamon
Problem: Driver for Epson XP-313 printer can be found and supposedly ready for download, cannot attach the screenshot: "file too large". Trying to actually download the driver by pressing the "Forward" button leads to very short flicking of a message and no more results.
Please advise possible actions.

32bit is an unusual choice these days; perhaps we best check the facts: beliefs can be stronger than facts though

if you type

Code: Select all

uname -a
...... look for
x86_64
in the answer ....... that would signify 64bit; 32bit would be i386

and have a look at this https://itsfoss.com/32-bit-64-bit-ubuntu/

they suggest doing

Code: Select all

lscpu
and near the top if it says
CPU op-mode(s): 32-bit, 64-bit
the thread says that means you have 64bit .. if only 32bit mentioned that says you are running a 32bit system

if you could paste here the results you get from this please; that would be helpful to guide you with

My processor is 64-bit, but MINT is 32-bit (pls see the LSCPU output below). Note: I choose 32-bit according to an advise, because my memory (RAM) is less than 4 GB. Pls advise the further steps re the printer driver

xp313.png
so for a 32bit debian package for the xp-313, one would go here for the FULL FEATURE driver

http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/du/02 ... c8a6db732a

and select epson-inkjet-printer-201301w_1.0.0-1lsb3.2_i386.deb

If you click to download, gdebi installer should leap in and ask if you want to OPEN it ... that should mean INSTALL in the language of gdebi installer ..s o take that option

to set up a printer, one needs to;

1) install the drivers and

2) register the printer with lpadmin

so downloading and installing the epson driver should do 1) and that usually triggers an automatic 2)

glad it is all good now; enjoy;

as you initiated the thread, if you go back to the title of your first post and add SOLVED, it seems to help folks following in your wake;

by the way, where did you first go to find the driver? (I ask because there seem to be some strange and perhaps dodgy sites out there feigning support)

the epson portal for linux is http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/searc ... ch/?OSC=LX

RE: The driver source
I didn't look for the driver myself but rather followed the printer installation procedure/ It found a driver but failed to download it with a mesage that flashed too fast to be read. At that moment I decided to go to the Forums.

Re: Closing the thread.
I will try ...

Please check the result of my action adding SOLVED. Is it enough?
