Upgraded from 18.3 to 19 Now Dell1320cn not printing

Post by salan »

I have a Dell1320cn that has been printing great under 18.3. since I have upgraded (fresh install) to 19, it finds the printer. Takes the driver (FX DocuPrint C525 A-AP v1.0), but when you go to print, nothing happens. It says it has printed and the print queue shows the file then says it has printed but doesn't actually do anything (the printer doesn't even wake up). As far as I know there is not an updated driver for this printer and I am at loss as to why it seems to work yet doesn't!.
Any ideas?

Try installing latest kernel 4.15.x , reboot and test. You can install isang update manager or ukuu. If their are problems you can boot into the old kernel on grub choosing advanced option.
If I have helped you solve a problem, please add [SOLVED] to your first post title, it helps other users looking for help.

Using 4.15.0.29 already. The printer works fine from other machines on 18.3. What puzzles me is that the system finds it, installs the ppd with no errors and when you go to print, it goes through the motions of printing (into print queue) and says its printed! yet nothing at the printer end?
If I couldn't prove it does actually print, I would say the problems at the printer!
