[SOLVED] Prink PRIMA ECO Scanner

Post by pelacables »

Hello all,

I recently bought a PRINK PRIMA ECO casue Linux was a supported OS. I got the drivers from its website and managed to install the printer, so far so good.
Problems started when I tried to install the scanner: their instrucctions weren't complete and the bash script that installs has to be fixed.
I managed to "install" it and sane find the scanner:

Code: Select all

# sane-find-scanner

  # sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect your scanner. If the
  # result is different from what you expected, first make sure your
  # scanner is powered up and properly connected to your computer.

  # No SCSI scanners found. If you expected something different, make sure that
  # you have loaded a kernel SCSI driver for your SCSI adapter.

found USB scanner (vendor=0x2bb4 [PRINK], product=0x0002 [PRINKMFP2]) at libusb:002:005
  # Your USB scanner was (probably) detected. It may or may not be supported by
  # SANE. Try scanimage -L and read the backend's manpage.

  # Not checking for parallel port scanners.

  # Most Scanners connected to the parallel
but scanimage doesn't:

Code: Select all

# scanimage -L

No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different,
check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the
sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation
which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages).
I'm very new to the scanners and I'd like to know if any of you did manage to configure a PRINK scanner in Mint or if you can help me to fully configure the scanner in my system. I don't know what other iformation could be interesting in order to debug the problem.

Code: Select all

# cat /etc/lsb-release
DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=16.04
DISTRIB_CODENAME=xenial
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 16.04.5 LTS"

Finally, after dealing with PRIMA support, they admited that the driver is not working and they have to rewrite it (even upgrade printer's firmware [sic]).
