Default Printer Resolutions for Brother MFC-J985DW

Post by Renaissance Man »

Greetings to all,

In order to determine the dimensions of a printer's output, it can be very useful to know what the printer's output resolution in dots per inch (or dpi) are.

I have a Brother MFC-J985DW all-in-one which I am very satisfied with, but for the life of me I was unable to find any information either on Brother's support site or elsewhere on the web despite multiple attempts. Finally, I emailed Brother support and point-blank asked them for this information. As hard as it might be to believe, these alleged technical support 'experts' had NO CLUE as to what the default resolutions were, however to their credit, they DID buck my email up to the engineering group for an answer. Within a couple of days I had the information I was after.

In order to save any of my brethren and sistren the frustration and aggravation I had to suffer, here is the information provided to me by the engineering group for the Brother MFC-J985DW all-in-one:

Media Type Print Quality Resolution (dpi)

Plain Paper Draft 600 x 600
Normal 600 x 600
High 1200 x 1200

Inkjet Paper Normal 1200 x 1200
High 1200 x 1200

Photo Paper Draft 600 x 1200
Normal 1200 x 1200
High 1200 x 6000

It is my sincere hope that some will find this information useful.

Yours in the Peace of the Grove,
