Canon LiDE 120 black pages, green light on simple scan

Post by HuginnMuninn »

Hi,

I have Canon LiDE 120 scanner (works fine on win7)

Today I tried it for the first time on Mint (18.2 64)

with simple scan = black pages, loads for a while, and the light of the scanner is green. I changed the USB ports the result is the same.

I searched a little

found SANE, downloaded it then scanned = black pages (only difference that light was white and it was faster)

Any help, please?

Try these tips..
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:rolfbensch/sane-git
then run

$ sudo apt update

then (assuming the user has the sane and all sane libraries installed) do a full-upgrade by

$ sudo apt full-upgrade

If you do not have sane and all its libraries installed then install it by executing the following.

sudo apt -y install sane libsane libsane-common sane-utils libsane-extras
Now your scanner should work with any frontends like simple-scan or gscan2pdf.

or you can compile sane-backend from the latest source, for that you can follow https://help.ubuntu.com/community/CompileSaneFromSource. and it will help you some more https://help.ubuntu.com/community/sane
good luck
