Running Mint 19 64 bit
I am trying to install a Brother printer on my desktop. The printer is a Brother MFC-J4410DW and is remote so can't connect via USB, but on the network. I have CUPS installed and my HP printer works (but the printer itself is rubbish!)
When I try to install it I select Network Printer and search it finds the printer, I select it and continue, select the make but the model is not listed. I visited the Brother site, followed this page
https://support.brother.com/g/s/id/linu ... n#cwi_img2
followed the instructions, then downloaded the driver, but when I click to install it I get Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: mfcj4410dwlpr
I have run updates, checked for broken packages etc but cannot find out how to solve this.
Any ideas?
Mick

That printer seems to be so old that you may need to make custom

deb
packages. Look and put down dependencies and edit DEBIAN/control
file and make a edited deb
package. An example:https://puolanka.info/goto/canon-mp490- ... and-newer/

Re: Cannot install driver for Brother mfc j4410dw Printer
The printer is only about 3 years old.
I did some more searching and investigation and I seem to have fixed it. I had selected the 'cupswrapper_driver' from the Brother site, that was giving me the error when I tried to install it. I tried downloading the 'LPR_Driver' and installed that, I was then able to install 'cupswrapper_driver'. I then managed to install it and set it to it's IP address and it works.

rpm
package, it must convert to deb
package using Alien.
Code: Select all
