Lenovo IdeaPad 320 touch pad not working
I have Linux kernel 4.15.0-43-generic, Linux Mint 19.1 installed on my Lenovo IdeaPad 320 and the touch pad is not working. I have tried all of the solutions that I could find via Google, all with no luck. Can anyone suggest a different solution?

Re: Lenovo IdeaPad 320 touch pad not working
Post results from terminal for
Code: Select all
dmesg | grep -i elan
Re: Lenovo IdeaPad 320 touch pad not working
Thanks, Jeremy. I'm new to Linux, so I want to confirm: Run the instruction "dmesg | grep -i elan" in the terminal app?
Re: Lenovo IdeaPad 320 touch pad not working
Hello,
I have a Lenovo Ideapad 530s ryzen 7. The touchpad did not work for 19.1. I read that this
will work in a terminal: sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-input-synaptics . Reboot after this
and hopefully it will work.
Good fortune,
Marcia

Re: Lenovo IdeaPad 320 touch pad not working
Thanks. I could get result for dmseg (below) but not grep -i elan.

Re: Lenovo IdeaPad 320 touch pad not working
Thanks for the suggestion, Marcia Unfortunately, I tried it and the touchpad still does not work
Re: Lenovo IdeaPad 320 touch pad not working
Hello,
It took me awhile to find the correct manual for my machine. Once I did, I found out that selecting F6 turns on or off the touchpad. I just read that
is the key to turn it on or off for your machine, too. I tried it and sure enough it works perfectly on my machine. I do not know if I needed the command I gave you on the previous post or not. For just a fast simple test, I would reboot and then try the F6 key.
If that really does not work, here is a link that has info about updating to a newer kernel that solved the problem: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Linux-Disc ... -p/3836105
Also, there is a post on that page that talks about using the F6 key.
It appears many have it working with linux, so something should make it work.
Good fortune,
Marcia

Re: Lenovo IdeaPad 320 touch pad not working
Thanks again. I updated the kernel to the most recent via UUKU and rebooted a couple times, and still can't use the touch pad. I have also tried tapping the F6 key, which didn't work either.marcia wrote: ⤴Fri Jan 11, 2019 11:09 am Hello again,

Re: Lenovo IdeaPad 320 touch pad not working
Hi,
I must apologize. I found a forum and the manual for your model that says it is the F8 key that toggles the touchpad on or off.
That is maybe worth a try. If that does not work ,hopefully someone or I will be able to offer the solution.
Good fortune,
Marcia
