[SOLVED] CUPS is dead... Help!

Hi.
LM 19 Cinnamon.
When I open the Printers manager I get the message "Printing service not available. Start the service on this computer or connect to another server" (see attached picture below).

There is a "Start Service" button inside the window but it is not working.
If I click on the "Connect button" the system prompts as CUPS server: /run/cups/cups.sock (see attached picture below).

Connecting to the Cups server fails and I get the message "CUPS Server error - There was an error during the CUPS operation: 'failed to connect to server' "
I tried the command

Code: Select all

systemctl start cups

without success.

I can't print anymore

Looks like CUPS is corrupted. Are you running Timeshift and tried restoring back prior to a time when it worked?

Thank you a lot
I had never used TimeShift before and it has just saved my day
Now CUPS has come back to life and everything seems to be working properly.
