recognizing the scanner on Epson ET-2750

Post by stevindm »

It took some effort but my Epson ET-2750 printer now works on Mint 19.3. Getting the driver was the first hurdle but then the scanner seemed to be hit or miss. The error message claimed that the scanner was not detected. I used both Simple Scan and Xscan. Thanks to the comments made on a few of the forum posts I discovered that I had to tell the software exactly where the scanner was. I found out by asking the software where it was in the terminal screen and then I had to turn around and tell the software where it was! Go figure. Believe me, I'm not good enough to have figured this out on my own but I can copy and paste. You can too but you will have to figure out what the script should look like on your computer. __ sane-find-scanner __ scanimage -L __ These were the first two commands I ran and the final command was __ xsane libusb:001:002 __ You will have to modify the location to match your computer and scanner.

What print driver did you use or how did you install the initial print driver?

Epson supplies a driver for Linux but doesn't support Linux. You will have to go to their web site and download it than install it. I have used the software manager also with some success. You have to search for it.
The scanner is still hit or miss and I am trying to figure it out.

The Epson Download Centre has all the drivers you need: http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/searc ... ch/?OSC=LX
Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon

Can confirm the ET-2720 works perfectly on mint 19.2
Printing over usb and wireless work after installing both drivers from epsons site here: http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/searc ... archModule
Scanning only works over usb
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For scanning over wireless:
Drivers: http://support.epson.net/linux/en/imagescanv3.php
Use Ubuntu 18.04 - https://download2.ebz.epson.net/imagesc ... deb.tar.gz
Running install.sh will install:
./core/imagescan_3.61.0-1epson4ubuntu18.04_amd64.deb
./plugins/imagescan-plugin-ocr-engine_1.0.2-1epson4ubuntu18.04_amd64.deb
./plugins/imagescan-plugin-networkscan_1.1.3-1epson4ubuntu18.04_amd64.deb
./plugins/imagescan-plugin-gt-s650_1.0.2-1epson4ubuntu18.04_amd64.deb
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Then follow the instructions: http://download.ebz.epson.net/man/linux ... tml#sec6-1
Specifically (7. Setting Network Plug-in)
scan.png
Change this: net.udi = networkscan:esci://[IP address]:[Port number] to match your printers network settings, then simple scan will work.

Good luck

I can confirm that Epson provides the drive and software for the Epson ET-2750 printer and scanner.

I really like this printer and am happy for Epson supporting Linux users.
