Please give some detail regarding these "various drivers". Their names, how you installed them etc.

The Debian wiki is protecting itself against what it sees as known sources of spam.

Download the cnijfilter inkjet package offered by Canon

Code: Select all

tar zxvf cnijfilter..... .tar.gz
cd cnijfilter......-deb
./install.sh

The actual names of the package and the directory you have is known to you. The dots are placeholders.

I believe the installer script requires sudo.

Code: Select all

sudo ./install.sh

You have downloaded cnijfilter2-5.50-1-deb.tar.gz. Are you saying

Code: Select all

tar zvxf cnijfilter2-5.50-1-deb.tar.gz
doesn't work to unpack the file?

tar should be on your system. It is an essential file.

Well, yes. I can't even get past the sudo stage. (sudo: ./install.sh: command not found)

Just saw something obvious .... probably why the file isn't found.

If the OP downloaded to the Downloads directory (good guess), need to add a CD (change directory) to the Downloads directory before the "tar" step. Note, the first letter of Downloads is capped.

Code: Select all

cd Downloads

Nothing here seems to work, I either get sudo (command not found) or canon package (tar -zxvf cnijfilter..... .tar.gz
tar (child): cnijfilter.....: Cannot open: No such file or directory
tar (child): Error is not recoverable: exiting now
tar: Child returned status 2
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now) ????

As ClixTrix says - you need to be in the directory where the file has been downloaded. Give us the output of

Code: Select all

ls -l Downloads
