Thanks to Brian_p who suggested the mv command. This operation stopped the CUPS Dependency error report when running hplip.
Once my system knew that my printer existed I re-ran hplip-3.30.11 after navigating to it from the hp.123 site and via Sourceforge.

Don't do this, because the latest hplip does not install under Minto 20.1 — there's a huge list of missing dependencies, including many common packages like cups-devel, libjpeg, libusb etc which apparently Mint 20.1 simply does not have in the repos.antikythera wrote: ⤴Fri Jan 22, 2021 7:16 am I suggest you bite the bullet and upgrade following the Linux Mint blog instructions or do a clean install of Mint 20.1 after backing up your important files.
