Did you ever solve this? I have only one printer, and when I go to Mint's printer setup (system-config-printer), it's the only one it knows about. But the print dialogue in Xreader and other apps shows the same printer twice, just one with a trailing underscore. The one with the underscore works; the other just always says 'Getting printer information…'.
As you say, it's not a real functional problem, but I don't print much, so it's hard to remember which is the 'real' printer, so I'd like to clean up my print dialogue.
I'm still on Mint 20.2.
