Setting up a Canon printer on Linux Mint 20.1 [SOLVED]

Hi there,

We are trying to setup a printer on Linux Mint 20.1.

It is a Canon TR 4560.

The drivers seem to have installed but the printer says cannot print.

Is there a way to check whether the printer driver installed correctly?

What are some troubleshooting steps.

We basically get a notification to say "Cannot Print"

I've looked at that printer driver download for the TR4560 from Canon and the cnijfilter2 driver it contains is older than the one I have in Synaptic having added the PPA I referred to in my initial reply:

• Version from TR450 driver download: cnijfilter2-5.70-1
  Version from ppa:thierry-f/fork-michael-gruz: cnijfilter2-6.11-1+2004

This cnijfilter2 Printer Driver provides printing functions for Canon Inkjet printers operating under the CUPS (Common UNIX Printing System) environment.

I am a bit confused,

I should mention it is saying it's status is "idle" in the properties

brian_p posed a valid question - is your printer/scanner connected via USB? If not, then I would certainly connect it via USB.

As for the driver, if you read my first post and add that PPA, then sudo apt-get update, subsequently I think you'll be told there is at lest one upgrade - which will be the cnijfilter2 I referred to.

I am doing this by remote access to another client from quite a distance on TeamViewer. My access has been blocked by TeamViewer as Ive overused it.

Is there any steps you may know on how to setup reminna on Linux mint?

I am trying to fix this by telephone where the customer is far away.

It's strange as the scanner works fine.
