Solved - scanner with hplip

Post by Orac137 »

I have a HP 9025, Linux Mint 19.3 and installed the latest HPLIP software (3.21.6).
When I scan I get error message:

Error during CMS conversion:
Could not open scanner ICM profile: HV

Any idea how I fix this?
Did a complete uninstall and reinstall and still the same problem.

Sometimes works; sometimes doesn't. An HP OfficeJet Pro All-in-One? Let's give you a modern printing/scanning system (one you will get with a future Mint).

You go to

https://github.com/alexpevzner/sane-airscan (mainpage)

Then to

https://download.opensuse.org/repositor ... .04/amd64/ (Debian files)

You install ipp-usb and sane-airscan

Please give what you get for

Code: Select all

avahi-browse -rt _ipp._tcp

Code: Select all

avahi-browse -rt _uscan._tcp

Code: Select all

scanimage -L

Code: Select all

avahi-discover

The printer is not connected by USB. It is by a home network with a dedicated IP address.

Also the printer is working just fine. just the scanner is not. It scans the page then gets that error message on trying to load the scan image.

You neglected to mention that. Never mind.

The outputs of the commands asked for would still be useful.

I had to install a plugin to get my HP scanner to work.
hp-plugin.png
"Tune for maximum Smoke and then read the Instructions".

Please do. The final command is incorrect. It should be

Code: Select all

airscan-discover

I installed Linux Mint 20.1 on a USB stick and it seems to work with the printer.
So I will first upgrade my desktop to Linux Mint 20.1 and see if that solves the problem.
For now I will mark this thread as solved and readdress it if the upgrade does not work.
Thank you for your help.
