no printer in SOME applications?!

Post by wwjd1924 »

I recently installed Linux Mint 20.2

But now I discovered that on some apps like Google Chrome and Inkscape 1.1 there is no printer?
Other apps see the network printer just fine...

NOTE: the flatpak version of Inkscape has this problem, the older version 0.92 of Inscape, installed via the Synaptic Software Manager does show the printer

Any suggestions what I can do to solve this?

There's a possible workaround there for flatpaks. It will be a sandbox issue so you might have to run the applications unsandboxed, or setup the correct permissions.

I'm having the same problem with Google Chrome Browser.

When I go to print, the only option I get is "Save to PDF" - the network CUPS printer I use works from all other applications but doesn't appear in Chrome.

I had this with LM 20.1 and now also with 20.2.

Would love suggestions on how to fix? :D

I have no solution yet... Linux is fantastic but there are major bugs. For example: I (also) cannot print A4 color PDF images! I have to go to windows and there the A4 color images fly out of the printer. But beside that i love Linux!

Thanks for the follow up @wwjd1924

I also tried Chrome in incognito mode in case some extensions were interfering, but still no joy. :(
