Dell B1160w works with one PC; not with another, with same drivers installed

Post by ulrichmmm »

Hi,
I've been having a bit of difficulty with getting a Dell B1160w printer to work with my father's computer. I'd read that there were issues with this model and Linux, but I'm running it as well, and have had no issues with printing. I downloaded the driver here (https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us ... 0w/drivers), and the Dell Unified Driver Configurator is installed on both, but so far it only works on mine.

A few other things to note:
1. Whenever I attempt to open the Dell Unified Driver Configurator, I receive an "Error! Cannot load plug-ins message," though this doesn't seem to affect the printing on my computer.
2. When I check the printer properties on each computer, mine lists the correct make and model, while my father's just lists it as Generic Text-Only Printer.

Finally, here's what I got after entering inxi:

My father's computer

Thanks!

I would try upgrading your fathers pc to mint version 20.2,
If you think the issue is solved, edit your original post and add the word solved to the title.
