OK, I got nowhere before, prob because I was in the wrong place.
Here's the deal: My old reliable HP 5300 printer gave a hiccup in mid print and quit. Originally I thought I had disconnected it and was sent some commands to see if the PC still "saw" it. It does. The printer still makes copies and now I know it still scans and saves to file. Phew!
It still doesn't print, though. I think I may have messed up the driver when using Bleachbit, which I ran (for the 1st time as Root). Part of the trouble is that I am running the Very Old Mint (Betsy, v.2) and don't know how to upgrade! My "guru" is now no longer able to drive and is no help
