HP Laserjet M401n - doesn't stick in Gimp (Solved)

Setting up Preferences for Gimp when printing several images (png & jpeg) Image did not appear in the preview and no printout.
What was there was a vector with an infinitely small representation at the intersect point of something??
Making sure the Printer was seen and making sure the command was proper tried and the image in Preview still the same with no printout.
Using the normal print command the image prints through Gimp but there is the loss of manipulation and size change.
Work around appears to be using one of the foomatic generic listed printers which restores all gutenprint function and printout.
The HP printer is seen by the system in entirety with this one small exception, though Gutenprint "sees" the printer it does not hold the setting.
It does hold the Generic setting and the image shows in the preview window.

Working with Linux Mint Mate 20.2 and the latest Gutenprint and Gimp from the repositories the printer selection will not hold. (also with Cinnamon)
Previous mentioned was the Generic 4PCL holding but no more for some reason.
Tried several image formats Looking at the Git listing for Gutenprint supported printers the LaserJet Pro M401n is not on the list but . . .
. . . a LaserJet 4 is on the list and images show in the Gutenprint preview window, prints, but again the setting does not hold.
I was also unable to find a method to re-establish the printer on the system with out remove and re-install.
Searching does not appear to provide any answers unless there's a buried configuration file suitable for editing.

Still not completely understanding how this was solved on two different systems using Gutenprint (also up to date)
Linux Mint Mate 20.2 and Linux Mint Cinnamon 20.2 but it now holds.
Setting up Printer: selected Generic PCL4; the HPLaserJet Pro 401m shows along with a command line, saved print settings below, works for other files.
Image appears in the preview window, image can be manipulated prints accurately. (This on Mint Mate system)
On Cinnamon system similar except the selected printer is an HP LaserJet 4m, same kind of issue, all is seen in preview, mainpulated and printed.
Saved print setting.

Both systems Gimps closed and re-opened, opened other files not printed, settings held in both systems.
