Connect scanner to Linux Mint 20.3 Mate
The system allows print to my Printer /scanner by wireless or wired but does not recognise the scanner function of that unit . I would like to scan to the Computer which was originally on Windows 7 .
If there is no solution I will buy scanner only and am looking at Brother ADS-2200 Desktop. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

At the risk of being chastised in the forum for suggesting a piece of commercial software, I would recommend downloading the trial version of Vuescan. It says it support the network function on your scanner.
I have used it for years on Linux, Mac and Windows, with a number of older unsupported scanners.

Re: Connect scanner to Linux Mint 20.3 Mate
Hello Ken,
The Epson XP-750 qualifies as a modern device for printing. There shouldn't be any problem in using it with Mint's driverless printing system. Driverless scanning is a little more of an issue because it depends on what Epson provided in its firmware in 2012/2013. However, there is a reasonable chance of getting scanning going provided a wireless connection is used.
First give the output from
Code: Select all
avahi-browse -rt _ipp._tcp
Code: Select all
apt install sane-airscan
Code: Select all
scanimage -L
Code: Select all
airscan-discover

It's good you got scanning going, Ken. However, it would be useful to know whether it was by using the Epson driver or sane-airscan. If sane-airscan was involved, I would still be interested in the outputs ofjoneskennethe85+ wrote: ⤴Sun Aug 07, 2022 5:15 am Many thanks Brian. Now sorted both by direct connection and wireless
