No WiFi after installing Linux Mint on Macbook Air 2013 with BCM43224/5 Adapter

Post by litos2121 »

New to Mint and been having problems connecting to Wifi. I've tried various solutions on here, but none of them seem to work. I'm currently working with an Ethernet connection, but would like to use WiFi. I've tried updating the driver manager, but nothing gets loaded. Here are a few command outputs that I've seen around. Let me know if there's anything else I should run.

Be sure secure boot is disabled in Bios. Check:

Code: Select all

 mokutil --sb-state
If still not working, do:

Code: Select all

 sudo apt install --reinstall bcmwl-kernel-source
Reboot

This is what I get after the first command

Code: Select all

This system doesn't support Secure Boot
Then when I reinstalled bcmwl-kernel-source and rebooted it still didn't work.

Do you dual boot with Windows? If so, you might need to disable Fast Boot & Fast Startup.

No dual boot. Wiped the Macbook and installed Mint through USB drive

Have you checked for secure boot? That command that says it's not supported can sometimes be wrong.

Followed these steps and redid everything from before, but still no luck unfortunately.

If so, try installing the driver again:

Code: Select all

 sudo apt install --reinstall bcmwl-kernel-source
Reboot

It begins looking for drivers and then says "Your computer does not need any additional drivers"

Does it indicate that bcmwl-kernel-source is installed?

Let's see what this shows:

Code: Select all

lspci -nnk | grep -iA3 net && rfkill list
