(Solved and Working) Z83F MinisForum WIFI Problem

Post by HaveaMint »

I was running Mint 19.2 back when it was first out on this mini pc and could not get the wifi to work. A few years later I was bored and fired it up again and wifi connected. I'm kicking myself now for not checking to see what driver it decided to use to connect. I Installed 20.2 (both installs XFCE) and the wifi doesn't work. Any help would be appreciated.

I suspect that has one of those SDIO wifi cards I know nothing about.

Anyway, what does this show:

Code: Select all

 mokutil --sb-state

I did find it has a broadcom AP6255/AP6212 wireless if that helps.
What I find strange is that it suddenly started working on xfce mint 19.2 after I tried and gave up. As I said above I installed 20.2 xfce and now it died again.

I don't know enough to help with this. If anyone can, it's likely JeremyB. Maybe he will check in here or you can PM him.

It is working now and it was one of two things that did it. I suspect it was the second one that did the trick.
I got both from this link on the forum. viewtopic.php?t=345339
First was from sleeper12

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get purge bcmwl-kernel-source
sudo modprobe -r brcmfmac
sudo modprobe brcmfmac
and I suspect this is the one that did the trick, I did remember seeing it blacklisted. Reboot after it.
From Lucad:

Code: Select all

The termbin info indicates that your bcm43xx module is blacklisted, which blocks it from loading. You can experiment to determine whether or not it makes a difference to your 43340 chipset:

To remove bcm43xx from the blacklist (renames it as bcm43yyy, harmless) ...

Code: Select all

sudo sed -i 's/bcm43xx/bcm43yyy/' /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

Later you can restore bcm43xx to the blacklist (renames bcm43yyy back to bcm43xx) ...

Code: Select all

sudo sed -i 's/bcm43yyy/bcm43xx/' /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

Reboot.
Marking post as solved and working now. Again thanks to sleeper12 and lucad on this.
