Now cannot connect to network (SOLVED )

Post by frostymusic »

Hi, experiencing similar issue with Asus and Realtek RTL 8125.

Network:
Device-1: Intel driver: iwlwifi v: kernel port: N/A bus ID: 00:14.3
IF: wlo1 state: up mac: <filter>
Device-2: Realtek RTL8125 2.5GbE vendor: ASUSTeK driver: N/A port: 4000
bus ID: 04:00.0

Driver Manager goes on and on with no results.

This is why it's better to update the kernel if possible. Some of those instructions for installing.......

Per this:
Linux support for the RTL 8125 is relatively new and newer revisions like RTL 8125B require a very new kernel. Linux 5.4.x is the first long term supported Linux kernel with support for the RTL 8125 chip. It supports the RTL 8125A, but it does not support RTL8125B. Support for RTL8125B was not introduced until Linux 5.9.
So you should be able to update the kernel. (ps: 5.13 *is* later than 5.4.....this always confuses me a little, lol)

I would think the 5.13 kernel would be better on that newer machine. Install it in Update Manager, View, Linux Kernels & reboot.

If that doesn't help, you can try the 5.14-oem kernel with:

Code: Select all

 sudo apt install linux-oem-20.04d
Reboot
