Wifi not working after a few minutes - Realtek RTL8822BE

Hi guys,
I'm having troubles with my wifi connection. When I restart my laptop wifi sometimes doesn't work. After a few restarts it works for a few minutes, then drops dead. I managed to get some info when it works and when it doesn't trough terminal. Dunno what to do anymore, I've searched alot on the internet. Installed the drivers from https://github.com/lwfinger/rtw88/blob/master/README.md
This happened on a version some time ago, then switched to ubuntu. Updated ubuntu, then same problem and tried Mint again. Version 19.3 worked beautifuly, but after the update to Mint 20 back to the same problems again. I really like Mint and am hoping to solve this with your help.

I see that the network port is different when it works shows 4000 and when it doesn't shows 6040.

If you are looking for a driver for chips such as RTL8188EE, RTL8192CE, RTL8192CU, RTL8192DE, RTL8192EE, RTL8192SE, RTL8723AE, RTL8723BE, or RTL8821AE, these should be provided by your kernel. If not, then you should go to the Backports Project (https://backports.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/Main_Page) to obtain the necessary code.

Maybe you should check again, because previously I had the same problem. I am using RTL8723BE and follow rtw88 instructions, and none have worked. Then, I follow another instructions from driver RTL8723AU_BT and have worked for me.

Anyway I installed it again and same problem persists, wifi for a few minutes and then "state down" and doesn't work any more.

Tried it, still after restart wifi works for a few minutes or doesn't at all.
Power management is on. Tried many times until it showed off, but after restart still shows on.
When I modify the value shows

I can mount it, and then modify, dunno if this is usefull.
Disabled IPv6 - no effect. I don't have an old router anyway.

Tried the modprobe commands with -r first and then without. Still after restart it works or it doesn't.

Installed https://github.com/tomaspinho/rtl8821ce but didn't manage to get that driver rolling because I didn't know exactly how.

Anyway with the rtw_8822be back from github and

managed to stay connected when wifi driver loads and works.

But still it can't work in the long run because sometimes wifi drivers loads at startup and many times not. So I have to restart a few times until it works.

Here are the new findings:
The problem seems to remain that on startup sometimes Wi-Fi drivers rtw_8822be don't load, and I restart a few times until they load.

Installing rtl8821ce-dkms drivers from the ppa seems to made the Wi-Fi stable once it's connected.
Modprobe commands don't seem to have any effect on loading or unloading Wi-Fi drivers.
Installed back Mint 19.3 hoping that I can make it back from where I've started, when Wi-Fi was working beautiful. Seems that the kernel is updated there as well and the same problem persisted. So I'm back to Mint 20 if I still can't escape this problem.
Disabling ipv6 made my Wi-Fi to not work at all.
Don't think it's a power problem. Anyway tried the solutions with the power management and after a restart power save is still on.

This should keep power management off until you reboot:

I'm not sure how to keep it off permanently, but at least you can test if it helps the wifi problem or not.

2 - open the file "interfaces" with su privileges with a text editor.
2a - I commented out what was there with # and then added what you see at 3 below
3 - type the following:
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp
4 - reboot the system

I was able to disconnect from my network WIFI and reconnect hope this helps,

Tried it, but didn't work.
It's not the power management, because it's startup driver loading problem now.
Anyway, seems to work 7 times out of 10 when power on. That a good percentage that I can work with.

I finally solved the riddle!

So I installed Mint 19.3 without an internet connection because that worked marvellously. After the install, I've updated all except the kernel updates. To do that I've found them, right click and selected "Ignore update and future updates".

I saw that the system functions on Kernel 5.0 through "system info". Then that I could update to which version I want through Update Manager -> View -> Linux Kernels. So I've updated it to 5.3 the version before the problems stared when version 5.4 appeared. Now everything works beautiful.

Furthermore, if by mistake you updated to the wrong Kernel, on system start-up you can press and hold shift and through advanced options you can select to boot with an older kernel, then you can uninstall the one that doesn't work for you like I've said earlier through Update Manager. So practically, I could install Mint 20 and work through kernel 5.3 so everything works fine with my Lenovo Legion Y530. But I am very happy to stay on the current version anyway.

I thought I would post my results using the multiple suggestions given in this thread. Only one suggestion by itself did not help my HP at all. However I used the driver at this link https://easylinuxtipsproject.blogspot.c ... k.html#ID7 and then I also looked at instructions to see if power management was being applied and it was. So from what I found there is a file > > etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/default-wifi-powersave-on.conf which has a setting called with a value of "wifi.powersave = 3". So I changed the value from 3 to "2", saved the file and reboot.
After reboot I opened terminal and checked power management for the wifi chipset using command "iwconfig". Found it was now off.

Since doing Both of these suggestions I have not any further problems with my wifi. I'm using new install of LM cinnamon 20 with default Kernal dual boot with Windows. This may not help anyone else but I thought I would share what worked for me. Be sure to notice I did not reinstall the power management, only changed a setting The driver however I did install as direct at the link provided. Good luck to all, I know a problem like this can be stubborn. I'm thankful to have mine working steady.
