Restricting Web access

Post by Titus »

Hey there,

i am currently setting up computers for my school and decided to use Linux Mint for it. Whatever, i want to restrict the web access to a few sites only. I already tried programs like mintnanny but that really is the opposite of what i am looking for, i want a program where everything is blocked by default and i can create a whitelist of websites that are ok to use.

Also if you have a individual whitelist for every user that would be even better.

Best regards,
Titus

I've never tried this, but you might have a look: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ParentalControls

Best to do this at the browser for each computer/user:
Chrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... bdilehfkbl

Wasn't able to find an equivalent for Firefox, but it might be out there with more research.

that would be something like:
https://lifehacker.com/lock-google-chro ... 1601863648
Lock Google Chrome with Built-in Password Protection

that would also be Browser version dependant, as well,
so it may Not work, on an later Browser version . .

The basic Idea is good, but the option they talk about does not exist anymore...
