Android Warpinator problem

My computer [LM20-Ulyana] can see my Android phone and vice versa but there is no connection.
Computer Warpinator says: "Waiting for two-way connection" and phone: "Connection failed". Group Code and port are the same on both devices. Also, I did update firewall rules.
What can I do to make it work?

Being quite busy lately — sorry! No I don't have Bluetooth on my desktop.

Haven't tested it to the point of proving it, but believe the android version uses bluetooth to communicate - it would explain why it works with one of my thinkpads with bluetooth, but doesn't with another that has not got bluetooth.

Bummer! How to enable Bluetooth on my desktop?

First check if you have bluetooth, in a terminal lsusb:

no pci bluetooth adaptor on this laptop.

If it doesn't show up you will need to buy a dongle, or card if running a desktop.

I bought Bluetooth USB adapter and paired the desktop with the phone.
Unfortunately Warpinator still doesn't work — but, after I installed «Bluetooth File Transfer» on an android phone I can now transfer files via Bluetooth.
Would definitely prefer Warpinator which is faster and simpler but it doesn't look like it will be solved here.

I did the same:

and it works for me without changing any settings.

The Android and Linux versions use both WiFi, you don't need Bleutooth.
But the connection between Mint and Android is buggy. Most of the times I have to restart the apps.

Without bluetooth on the laptop it will not connect or see the phone, with bluetooth on the laptop everything works fine with warpinator.

Warpinator sees my computers without the need for bluetooth, ie via WiFi.

However I while my computers connect using Warp. vers. 1.0.8 the phone won't connect. I suspect it's due to lack of compatibility between the phone and the computer versions.

This hypothesis may be confirmed as I have now installed Warpinator from the Android repository. The Android version is 1.1.2. In consequence the Android phones connect between themselves and the computers connect between themselves. Sadly the useful phone to PC connections appears to require that the PCs run version 1.1.2. As one of them is on LM 19.3 (not comptatible with Warp 1.1.2 last time I looked) and the other is running Ubuntu Studio 20.04.2 for which a complex build operation was needed, there appears to be no easy solution.

How about some backward compatibility guys?

An alternative route to installing is to visit http://packages.linuxmint.com/search.ph ... warpinator
One can then install th chosen version with gdebi, which will flag the missing dependencies.

I have exactly the same problem as OP, except I'm running 20.2 xfce with latest Warpinatior, and Android 10 with latest Warpinator from F-droid.

I just managed to get it working.

There was an update to warpinator for android (on f-droid). Now the android client gives a message when the connection fails:

"Connection error. Failed to receive certificate from <remote machine>. Make sure tu allow UDP (as well as TCP) traffic on port 42000 in remote's firewall."

On remote machine (desktop), I checked the firewall config. It turns out the preconfigured rules for Warpinator only allow in TCP traffic. I added another rule allowing in UDP on port 42000 and now it works.

Thanks for the tip to look at firewall permissions! I was pulling my hair out until following your lead and discovering the missing firewall rule to allow udp 42000. Weird that it creates the rules for tcp but skipped udp?

Warpinator is working now between my Galaxy S8 Android phone and Mint 20.2

This finally solves trying to configure ftp or another file manager for usb mpt transfers!

F-droid version is still buggy.
Linux Mint 20.2 Cinnamon can't find my androids who have the F-droid version
PlayStore version works ok.

w/android, phone could always see linux mint machine in warpinator.

however the mint app couldn't see the phone unless i was on wifi.

this was true even w/firewall disabled.

once i put the mint machine on wifi (rather than gige on same network), it worked.
