WiFi speed... why faster in some devices?

Post by alquimista »

Hi,

I have 5 devices at home that consume WiFi; one of them, my laptop, detects up to 40 Mbps max speed; is an HP running Windows 10. On my desktop (using Mint 20.1), about 3 meters away from the WiFi modem, I get no more than 25 Mbps; same for my Samsung Galaxy S20 plus mobile, even if its too close of the modem. I tested speed reception in my smart TV, and the same... not as fast as in the laptop. Why would it be? The ISP support person tells me that the laptop might have better WiFi card receptor; would it be?
