Internet connection (Resolved)

Post by GELvdH »

I have 3 computers, my laptop is on the internet via WiFi, the second desktop is via ethernet which is going through a router. My third cpu is also going through the same router but is not connecting to the internet. Here is the inxi file for that cpu.

Anyone see any reason why this thing is not connecting to the internet?

It shows ethernet is up, so not sure why it isn't working. Try reloading the driver:

Code: Select all

 sudo modprobe -r r8169 && sudo modprobe r8169

Or, restart network manager:

Code: Select all

 sudo service network-manager restart

Tried both commands, no joy. It is weird because it is connected to the same router next to the other cpu cable. I even switched cable locations, nothing seems to work. I must have something missing in the software.

Could it be a bad ethernet cable or port? If not that, maybe restart router, modem & machine.

Restarted everything, I am getting a connect signal on the cable so that isn't it. Without internet I can't get update manager to update so that leaves me only one choice, reinstall. Since I have all my data on the cloud I will just have to reinstall LM, NORDVPN and MEGA.NZ. I will wait until tomorrow and see if someone comes up with any more ideas. Thanks for your trying.

See if it works in a live session before you reinstall.

The live session lets you test Mint before actually installing it.
