Really slow wifi Speed, download and upload.

Post by duke_33 »

Hi, I've been reading some posts here, in order to improve my wifi speed, but I only applied a change regarding the power managment. I was not sure about other solutions, as they may not apply to my current setup. I have had download speeds as low as 1mbps. I checked download speed on my phone, and I works great, so I have to assume that it is not the IPS, or modem issue. Here I paste information I've seen has been requested before to help others, hope that someone can guide me.

Computer speed test:

Please open a terminal window and enter these 2 commands

Code: Select all

wget -N -t 5 -T 10 https://github.com/UbuntuForums/wireless-info/raw/master/wireless-info && chmod +x wireless-info && ./wireless-info

Code: Select all

cat wireless-info.txt | nc termbin.com 9999
After a pause, a termbin.com URL will appear in the Terminal window. Paste that URL into a reply.

Here it is! https://termbin.com/mlb5 . I've also tried with an external wifi card, and I get the same speeds. I could try with the cable to see what happens

@duke_33 - Try using the TP-LINK_17B0 SSID instead of MiFibra-3B2A. It appears TP-LINK_17B0 has a better connection.

haha, well then... The only network I own is MiFibra-3B2A. Besides I'd like to solve this issue, since this pc under linux mint is the only one that is getting low speed of all the devices connected to the network! I'm loving Linux Mint, but this is crippling. Any advice is wellcome. Thanks!
