No ethernet connection with LM20.1 live usb

Post by lucho »

Hi guys,
I have been using Mint for some time, but still consider myself green. Recently my old hardware died and I decided to build a new system. When it was ready, I hooked up my old HDD (LM19.3) and fired it up. Everything seemed fine except that I had no network connection, so I figured that perhaps it was an issue with an old driver and decided to upgrade to LM20.1. To my surprise, when I booted the system from the LM20.1 usb, I found that I still had no network connection (I know that the ethernet router and cable are fine since I am using them right now on a very old PC that I keep around for times such as this.) The system also shows no wired connection icon in the bottom bar (next to the clock), instead it shows a wifi icon, which is very strange cause I have no wifi adapter or anything like it (i had actually never seen a wifi icon on a PC before).

I ran some commands based on other threads I had read and stored the results in a usb stick. Here they are:

I guess that the first thing I'd like to rule out is some hardware issue with the motherboard, since I have limited time to take it back to the seller as DOA.

Thanks

Looks like no driver. Is there one you can install in Driver Manager?

Hi, thanks for the reply. So it didn't load the driver at all. I'll check in Drive Manager.
