Mint does not recognize Sony digital paper USB connection

Post by Jacopo97 »

Hello,

I have recently bought a Sony digital paper tablet DPT-RP1 and was trying to set it up with my computer for transferring files. Unfortunately that cannot be done without a specific app that is available for windows or Mac only. I thought that would not have been such a big deal: I have a windows VirtualBox installed and I should be able to do everything through that.

The only problem is that to do so I need to connect the tablet to my linux mint host OS, then pass the USB connection to the virtual machine. However, when I connect the tablet with the USB cable, my linux OS does not find any device, and thus I am not able to pass the connection to the VirtualBox. I know that the problem is linked with the operating system, because then I tried to do the same on a Windows pc and it recognizing everything properly, but I was hoping there was some sort of way around this problem that did not involve installing a Windows partition on my computer. After all, I'd just need my computer to "see" the connection, and then I am pretty sure I would be able to do everything smoothly from VirtualBox.

Can anyone help me?

P.s. Unfortunately I do not have the option to use some different connection than USB, because that is the only option for setting up the device for the first time

I already have some further infos. By browsing the internet on topics similar to that they suggested to provide the input of the dmesg command. It indeed showed some data about my plugged in device with some errors that I attach here in the following:

Maybe this is helpful to better understand what the errors are.
