[Resolved] Intel Wireless 8260 not seeing all Bluetooth devices

Post by 80sDweeb »

When I try to connect my KS10 hearing aids to Bluetooth in my Dell Latitude E5570 laptop, the hearing aids don't show up in the BT app. In the app, there's no "scan" button or control. The only way I can get it to scan is to shut it off and turn it on again. I can connect my Samsung Galaxy 9+ phone to my hearing aids just fine. What can I do to get this working? I watch Netflix and YouTube on my laptop, and without my hearing aids, this won't be any fun.

Is there a better app for controlling the BT? Something with more options? Seems like I should be able to scan for devices without shutting off and turning on BT.

Thanks for any help you can offer!

You are shutting off and turning on the computer or just the bluetooth?

The Bluetooth.

I read the manual for the hearing aids, and it says you have to pair during the first 3 minutes after turning them on. I tried again with that knowledge and I saw the hearing aids listed, and was able to pair with them. Now they work great.

I guess I don't know enough about how BT works, how it broadcasts and accepts connections, etc. My hearing aids can receive sound from my laptop and my phone at the same time. That's something I don't understand about BT, also. I'm glad it works, though.

Glad to "hear" that. :)

Maybe there is that time period so you know exactly what is getting paired with them so you are not out sitting in a coffee shop somewhere being paired to everyone's phone and laptop within range of your head.

It's my understanding there are a number of different frequency ranges for different devices so you can have more than one device working at a time because they are each running on a slightly different frequency. The bluetooth on your hearing aids would know frequency band A is the connection to the laptop while frequency band B is the one to the cellphone.
