Just installed mint on a gateway nv53. I can connect to Wi-Fi but there is no internet available, also directly plugged in via a ethernet cable does not work. The only way I can access the internet is mobile usb tether. I have reset the bios, and a few other commands from other threads but it has gotten nowhere.

Re: New User Network Issues
Mint 20.2 with a 5.14 kernel isn't the best choice for that old machine. I suggest you try Mint 19.2 that has the 4.15 kernel.

Re: New User Network Issues
Also, make sure that Secure Boot is disabled in your Bios. If you are dual booting with Windows 10, disable Fast Startup in Power options. Also, please post the results of the following:
Code: Select all
modprobe ath9k

Re: New User Network Issues
Swapped to 19.2 as recommended by @sleeper12. Currently running with no issues. Thanks!
