Annoying bluetooth glitch on Mint 21

Post by SallyK »

I use a pair of Beats Solo headphones with my laptop, and in Mint 20 I would turn them on once I had logged in, and they would automatically connect.

In Mint 21, they connect, and then they almost immediately disconnect, meaning I have to open the bluetooth dialog and connect again. Is there anyone who might be able to help - thank you for any you can give me.

To start, others here need detailed data about your PC hardware and system software, neatly formatted.
  1. Use the Mint menu system to launch System Reports
  2. Click on System information there. Your system details appear.
  3. At the bottom-right of that window, click on the [Copy] button.
  4. Your clipboard now contains your PC info. Open a Reply here, then tap Ctrl-V to paste that info (unedited) into it.

Your PC specifications can then be reviewed by others here.

Check that Secure Boot is disabled in your BIOS, because it's known to interfere with device drivers and firmware. The following Terminal command tells you whether Secure Boot is currently enabled or disabled...

Code: Select all

mokutil --sb-state

If your PC dual-boots Mint and Windows: Disable Fast Startup in Windows, so that it won't leave your hardware in some zombie state. (I disable Windows Hibernate, which also disables Fast Startup. Disabling Hibernate lets me freely access my /windows partition from within Mint.)

Thank you for trying to help. I've checked and my Secure Boot is already off, and I don't run Windows, so it isn't that.

As far as I can tell, it seems to be to do with the different Bluetooth applet that Mint 21 is using, as opposed to Mint 20 - in general it seems a lot more sophisticated, but I can't tell if there's a setting I'm missing.
