Hi all,
I recently bought the Alfa AWUS036ACM WiFi adapter based on online recommendations.
Unfortunately it does not work out-of-the-box with older versions of Mint, so I just upgraded to Vanessa.
Whereas the device is recognised and functions for approx. 1 minute, after this time it simply stops functioning and no longer appears as an attached device.
I've gone through a few posts from here and elsewhere, and have installed these drivers:
github.com/morrownr/7612u
github.com/aircrack-ng/rtl8812au.git
Same issue occurs. Unplugging and replugging the device doesn't bring it back up even temporarily, only rebooting.
I have grabbed some system information with inxi etc. Before the *** is with the device registering, after the *** is after it drops off:

Re: Alfa AWUS036ACM not recognised after 1min
Maybe it's a driver conflict, try:
Reboot
Code: Select all
sudo dkms remove 8812au/5.6.4.2_35491.20191025 --all
Re: Alfa AWUS036ACM not recognised after 1min
Heya, thanks for your help but I have since discovered that, when it cuts out, it is actually the USB3 interface which stops responding. I plugged into another and haven't seen the issue since.
