VPN Problems (VPNC / Cisco) - Connection data can be saved

Post by starbright »

Do have Linux Mint 21 (upgrade from 20.3) / Cinnamon.
I want to add a new VPN. (Existing VPN works)

There is installed
"sudo apt install network-manager-vpnc network-manager-vpnc-gnome"

My issue is, that if I open
Networkmanager, VPN, + (or also change an existing one) - the "save" button is greyed out and doesn't work.

Any idea what can be the reason for that. Where are this data (about an existing VPN connection) are stored?

Found where my ethernet connections are saved:
/etc/NetworkManager/system-connections

This is only rw for root... But isn't that normal? On the other hand I will create my user network settings for myself...

I have the same problem on Mint 21.1. The "save" button is greyed out.
When I add new Cisco vpnc connection from network settings, I've get error: Unable to load VPN connection editor.
It looks like vpnc editor problem.
As a workaround, I copied the settings from my old workstation on Mint 20.3 to /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections.
