Without getting into the details of the netplan.io package (which I probably wouldn't understand), I discovered that my Intel I211 LAN port is not usable (no lights, interface not visible in networking settings, etc.) unless the system boots with netplan.io installed (wireless networking is fine, however).
If a package is necessary for something as fundamental as physical networking, it should probably be required by a meta package. Indeed, it's a dependency of ubuntu-minimal, so maybe something like mintsystem or mint-common should depend on it too.
Am I correct here?
