[SOLVED] Mint 13 Wireless works on Live CD not on Desktop

Post by mroctopus »

Hello,
I just installed Mint 13 64bit onto my Lenovo S205. When I was running the Live CD to install the wireless worked perfectly, but now with the desktop version its not connecting. I have tried the work around I used in Mint 12, but it isnt doing anything.

The workaround I tried was to put the following into rc.local:
rfkill unblock wifi
rfkill unblock all
modprobe -r acer_wmi

Any thoughts? Perhaps someone can walk me though how to check whats going on with my wireless on the Live sessions and then on the Desktop and then I can check for discrepancies and figure out how to change something? I am very new to Linux and Mint, so I am at a loss for what to do, any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

So I just tried to install a bunch of new drivers and whatnot to no avail. Then I did a reinstall, and when I was in the Live CD the wifi worked perfectly as it did before.
When I check "rfkill list" it says that the wifi is being Hard Blocked, and my wifi toggle switch is on. Anyone got ideas for how I can turn the Hard Block off?

I found the solution. I had to go into the BIOs and take "mintlinux" out of the first position on the boot sequence, then it acts like it did in the Live CD.

Found fix in this bug report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... bug/968103
