Wifi issues

Post by srblood »

I am having some issues with my WMP54G wireless card. Everything in the setup is set correct and I am able to see my wireless network. The problem is that will not accept the network key or it can't make the connection. If anyone in the community can help. I would be grateful. Just a heads up. I am a new to linux, but I know enough to be dangerous to my self.

Does anyone know if it is possible to remove the native drivers from mint and just run with windows drivers? If it is, what would be the process?

Newbie Q:

I am having similar trouble.

When I connect Linksys WUSB54G (version 1), an external wifi adaptor (via USB), a dialog box pops up requesting the encryption key.

When I enter the encryption key (that works under WinXP and Win7), it fails to connect and, after a few seconds, the same dialog box pops up. This is repeated.

Since the encryption key dialog box pops up, I assume that Mint 14 has detected the adaptor and detected that there is a wifi to connect to.

It just will not connect, even with the encryption key.

Other info.:
Pentium 4; 1.5G RAM; running on an Intel MB; Seagate HD. Nothing unusual. Mint 14 Cinnamon 32 bit runs fine otherwise. Also, I can connect via ethernet cable and it works fine. Just having trouble connecting via wifi.

Related trouble:

I have been trying to connect to my home wifi using WMP54G without much success. See my post at
http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.p ... 4g#p497198

I would like to get at least one of these two adaptors (WMP54G or WUSB54G) to work to access the wifi.

I have the same problem on a Dell and an Acer laptop running Mint 13. Everything was working until some updates on both.
