Take a look at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php? ... ght=jockey and see if this applies to your hardware (use pci.id)

This is how to install the correct driver:

These are all terminal commands, so open a terminal first.
step 1:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update
step 2:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install firmware-b43-installer
step 3:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get remove bcmwl-kernel-source
step 4:

Code: Select all

sudo reboot

Getting WiFi To Work on Linux Mint 12?

Post by blakebarkertech2 » Sun Sep 02, 2012 7:14 pm

I have Linux Mint 12, use Lenovo B560, and am using the Ubuntu interface, not Os.

My Wireless won't work, I don't even see the option. Once I enabled it, but then when I logged in next time "Failed to Load Session 'Ubuntu'" and I couldn't login, had to use LXD interface which sucked. Anyway, here's important info I have for you, and thanks for the help!

My Wireless isn't working, yet it says Broacom is activated, why can't I get my WiFi to work, can anyone help me get WiFi to work? A couple days ago, almost a week wicd network manager showed available networks and I didn't try it, the next day no more, said no network available...

Update: So in Additional drivers, it tells me Sorry, installation of this driver failed.

Please have a look at the log file for details: /var/log/jockey.log t

"This package contains Broadcom 802.11 Linux STA wireless driverfor use with Broadcom's BCM4311-, BCM4312-, BCM4313-, BCM4321-,BCM4322-, BCM43224-, and BCM43225-, BCM43227- and BCM43228-basedhardware." for Broadcom STA Wireless Driver."

Forum rules allow for one topic for each support question, not two and certainly not three. That is why the other two topics you started on the same subject have been deleted. However I have imported the answers you got in those two topics into your latest version, which is why they look out of order (they go in date order).

In future, if you feel your topic has not been answered please 'bump' the topic. The option to do so will be automatically presented at the bottom of your topic when sufficient time has elapsed. (Forum rules section 2 rule 9)

I will suggest that even if the driver does not install the log should be examined for details such as jockey log and then install with another try
