Hello i have Lenovo b570 laptop and i was worrying wile installing mint13 on it that WiFi will not work but it did :) Just out of the box!. I am using laptop without installing any proprietary drivers, it have an Intel celeron b800 with HD2000 so i dont need any extra drivers but i found some time ago in System settings/ additional drivers that there are waiting Broadcom STA drivers for wifi to be installed

Code: Select all

This package contains Broadcom 802.11 Linux STA wireless driverfor use with Broadcom's BCM4311-, BCM4312-, BCM4313-, BCM4321-,BCM4322-, BCM43224-, and BCM43225-, BCM43227- and BCM43228-basedhardware.
My question is should i install it since my WiFi is doing pretty well? Or it might improve performance, but maybe it will break my perfect WiFi? Should i try it, maybe i will once i have mint14 on USB i will try to install it and see what will happen, in case it will brake my connection i will install mint14 and never use this proprietary Broadcom drivers anymore :) What do you think?

try opening a terminal and typing lspci and push return, if i got it right it should list all the on board devices, look down the list till you find the wireless card it should say which drivers are in use, as bcm drivers are part of the mint package i think you will find its already loaded them
