HP Compaq nx6325 no wireless driver

Post by nugi »

This is the first time that i use the operating system Linux Mint 32bit mate, Nadia!
I installed it on the HP Compaq NX 3625, but the problem is that my lan network connection is broken and can only use wireless internet!
The laptop's wireless card is BCM4311 802.11 a / bg (14e4: 4312) rev. 01!
But unfortunately we are missing drivers for the wireless card and I can not use it!
I've studied a lot of examples on the Net, how to fix the problem, but i think that i need good connection to the Internet over the LAN , but i dont have it!
Can someone help me and explain how to solve the problem?
Is there any possibility to adjust windows drivers on linux drivers and how?
I try this: sudo /usr/lib/linuxmint/mintWifi/mintWifi.py
Answer is:
* I. scanning WIFI PCI devices...
-- Broadcom Corporation BCM4311 802.11a/b/g (rev 01)
==> PCI ID = 14e4:4312 (rev 01)

I am successly extracted driver, from windows driver, and find INF file!
After that, i was install INF driver, and got a massage : driver already present, instalation not success!
But, when i open wireless netvork driver window, i can see the driver: bcmwl5; hardwer present-yes!
Now, in terminal, massage look like this:
* I. scanning WIFI PCI devices...
-- Broadcom Corporation BCM4311 802.11a/b/g (rev 01)
==> PCI ID = 14e4:4312 (rev 01)
-------------------------
* II. querying ndiswrapper...
bcmwl5 : driver installed
device (14E4:4312) present (alternate driver: ssb)
-------------------------
* III. querying iwconfig...
lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

-------------------------
* IV. querying ifconfig...
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:17:08:3b:d4:5e
UP BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:0 (0.0 B) TX bytes:0 (0.0 B)
Interrupt:23

lo Link encap:Local Loopback
inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0
inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host
UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1
RX packets:4 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:4 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
RX bytes:240 (240.0 B) TX bytes:240 (240.0 B)

-------------------------
* V. querying DHCP...
-------------------------
* VI. querying nslookup google.com...
;; connection timed out; no servers could be reached

Any ideas, what i must do next?

Bad that you had to return to xp.

I solved the wireless problem like this.
In System>Administration>Synaptic package manager, search for “bcmwl-kernel-source”. Uninstall it if its already installed (it wasn't).
Search “firmware-b43-installer” and “b43-fwcutter” in Synaptic package manager. Then install them.
Important that you click Apply (otherwise you will lose the settings).

I found the instruction here:
http://erl1.wordpress.com/2011/06/19/en ... ntu-11-04/

Note that I did not follow the last instruction:
Next I saw Additional Drivers icon at the top panel on the screen. Finally, I installed Broadcom STA wireless driver.

I just rebooted and then I could switch on (and off) the wireless network with the button located close to the F5 key.
Now everything works fine :o
