Changing wifi drivers (Netgear WG311T)

Post by alfredska » Fri Mar 09, 2007 10:21 pm

I'm current getting disconnected frequently and then quickly reconnected to my network using the out-of-the-box wifi drivers included in Bianca. I have a Netgear WG311T (Atheros). I was able to strip the driver out of Netgear's install package for my wifi card and install using ndiswrapper. What I would like to do is disable wifi0 and use my installed ath0. How can I redirect Network Manager to use ath0 instead of wifi0?

As a quick note, ath0 is showing up in ifconfig. Strangely, ath0 shows an IP address while wifi0 shows all the traffic and no IP address. See the bottom of my post for an example.

~Matt

Mint 2.2 Bianca - Kernel 2.6.17.10
Netgear WG311T (using windows driver version 4.4 with ndiswrapper)
Let me know what else might be useful.

Code: Select all

$ ifconfig

I only happened to run across this link in a posting a couple below yours. Being curious, I read the link and thought it might have relevance to your situation:

Beyond that, I probably can't be much help, although I have used ndiswrapper before, but apparently so have you.

Good luck!
